Menstrual Hygiene Campaign

Event Overview

The Menstrual Hygiene Campaign Fundraising Event was an initiative by Sustainable Care in partnership with the Bloomers Seeds of Change Department, held on 5th April 2025. The event aimed to promote menstrual hygiene and empower girls at Luminary Foundation Community School while mobilizing resources to support menstrual health needs through awareness and fundraising activities.

Objectives

Promote menstrual hygiene awareness among girls at Luminary Foundation Community School.

Mobilize resources to support menstrual health and reduce period poverty.

Engage the community through a fundraising Paint and Sip event.

Support healthy menstrual practices through education and provision of sanitary products.

Key Outcomes

  • Approximately 30 participants attended the Paint and Sip Fundraising Event.
  • K8,650 raised from ticket sales and participation.
  • K8,350 raised through additional monetary donations.
  • K6,700 received from a diaspora donor.
  • 160 sanitary pads received as in-kind donations.
  • A total of K17,000 was raised.
  • 385 packs of sanitary pads distributed.
  • 385 shavers distributed.
  • 385 toilet rolls distributed.
  • 185 bars of washing paste distributed.

Impact & Sustainability

The campaign sparked meaningful conversations around menstrual health and fostered the possibility of future partnership projects. Following the success of this initiative, Sustainable Care and Bloomers Seeds of Change plan to scale these efforts through more community engagements, targeted support, and continuous fundraising opportunities.
